Services

During the last 30 years, Ray Timson has carried out thousands of structural surveys or structural appraisals of residential properties, which his qualification as a chartered structural engineer (BSc Eng.C Eng MIStructE) allows him to carry out and with such qualifications recognised by the vast majority of banks, building societies and building insurers.

He has carried out surveys and appraisals of various types of buildings within the London and Home Counties area. He continues to enjoy his work and is based close to the borders of North and East London and Central London.

His structural appraisals have often achieved a process of recommendations that have avoided possible building insurance claims for subsidence and/or assisted in the proposed purchase of a property and where his reports provide an opinion, such as the cause of any structural movement, remedial action and costings, which provides good information as part of the client’s final decision in the purchase or sale of a property, or in making a building insurance claim for subsidence.

As a chartered structural engineer, he specialises in residential properties in matters that might affect you as the owner or potential owner.

These include his role within DMC Structural Reporting Ltd. :

  • Structural survey of the whole building. Structural matters and maintenance matters combined within one report, to assist the client in understanding the scope of any precautionary or essential repairs to restore the building to satisfactory structural condition and to identify essential maintenance works required.

  • Structural appraisal of a part or whole of a building, in respect of structural stability matters, giving attention to possible defects that may have been noted by the client or identified in a valuation report for a mortgage in the process of buying or selling a property to assist the client in understanding the scope of any precautionary or essential repairs to restore the building to satisfactory structural condition.

  • Attending to party wall matters, in the role of surveyor acting for the building owner or the adjoining owner. His experience in structural design and building control matters allows him to interoperate proposed works to a building adjacent to or directly affecting party wall structures.

  • Expert witness in court proceedings, acting for the client in dispute.

  • Buildings insurance claim assistance in identifying for the building owner to extent and cause of possible structural movement affecting a property.
